It's All About the Horses
Lisa Hennings was born with the "H" gene. From the time she was a small girl, "horse" was at the top of her vocabulary and wish list. At age 12, that wish came true with a kindhearted Appaloosa gelding. She learned to ride and care for horses with him and learned a little about showing through 4-H.
When the "saddle seat" bug bit her, at age 14, she started riding American Saddlebreds. "I didn't know much," Lisa said. My parents didn't have a ton of money, "so I just got out there and emulated what I saw".
Getting out there is what she does best! Lisa went to work at a stable at age 19 doing whatever task it took to be around horses and to learn from the trainers. Whether that was mucking stalls, grooming, cleaning tack, or riding, it didn't matter. It was all about the horses.
